I was born and raised in Fort Madison, Iowa. I graduated from Aquinas High School in 1986 and began my post-secondary education at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. After two years, I transferred to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education in 1991. Trina and I were married that summer and moved to the Quad-Cities. I taught 5th grade in Bettendorf, Iowa for one year and 4th grade in Clinton, Iowa for six years. I graduated from Western Illinois University with a Master's Degree in educational administration in 1997. I served as the principal of Jefferson Elementary School in Harvard, Illinois from 1998-2002 before coming to Grundy. In 2016, I completed the Superintendent Endorsement Program at Illinois State University. The 2022-2023 school year marks my 32nd year in public education, 7 years as a teacher and 25 years as a principal. Beyond the world of education, we are actively involved at Cornerstone Baptist Church, enjoy attending our kids' activities, and love spending time with family and friends. Trina and I have been blessed with four beautiful children. Our daughter Katie and her husband Jacob live in Normal, IL where she works as a labor and delivery nurse at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center and he works as an accountant at State Farm Insurance Company. They have a one-year-old son named Eli. Our daughter Rachel is a junior at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ studying exercise science. Our son Caleb is a sophomore at Morton High School and participates in soccer and track. And our son Joshua is a 7th grader at Morton Junior High School and participates in cross country and band. We love Grundy School and are very proud to call the Morton School District our home!
