Chorus - 5th and 6th grade
The Morton Elementary Chorus (MEC) is a collection of 5th and 6th grade students from every grade school in the district. Rehearsals are after school on Mondays and Thursdays, from 2:45 - 3:45, and all participating students are bussed to the District Office from their respective grade schools (Grundy students simply cross the street) to gather together for our rehearsals time. 6th grade students have the opportunity to audition for a specialty group named "PB&J." Auditions for this group are held after our first choral concert of the year, and students who successfully pass the audition stick around to rehearse until 4:30 pm on Thursdays. Note: You must be an active participant in MEC to be considered for a spot in PB&J. MEC and PB&J participate in all district choral activities (though PB&J does not start until after the Fall Concert), including concerts, a choral festival (either in Dunlap or hosted here in Morton), Arts in the Park, and (often) a national anthem performance at a Peoria Rivermen and/or Peoria Chiefs game.
Orchestra - 6th grade
Mr. Martin runs the orchestra program for the district. He does rehearsals before school and small group lessons during the day for the grade schools and also runs the Jr. high and high school programs.
