My Class6th Grade

Welcome to Sixth Grade

We are extremely excited to see you in sixth grade!  This year will be full of amazing new information for you to learn.  You will learn how to apply your knowledge in all subjects at a higher level.  Math will include everything from more challenging computation to algebra to geometry (and many things in between).  Reading will include many wonderful novels and projects.  Experiments-Experiments-Experiments!!!  This is what sixth grade is all about!!

Social studies will take us through ancient history to the present.  Writing is a very important, and we learn how to further develop our written language through a variety of activities and lessons.

Teaching is what I have always wanted to do, even when I was a little girl. I absolutely love sixth grade! For the last twenty-nine years I have been a teacher, with the last thirteen years in sixth grade at Grundy Elementary.

My husband Tom and I have three boys: Andrew, Adam and Alec.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing tennis, running, biking, swimming, and reading.

Mission for the Class

In my classroom, I strive to create an active and welcoming atmosphere. All students are encouraged to actively participate on a daily basis, while having fun learning. I encourage learning through active and engaging activities, hoping to make learning relevant and meaningful.

I am so excited to join the Grundy staff this year as a 6th grade teacher. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of hard work, meaningful learning, and fun! This is my 5th year of teaching 6th grade. Prior to coming to Grundy I taught in the northwest suburb of Cary and in Pekin.

Before going back to school (ISU) to get my teaching degree,  I was a stay at home mom for 10 years. My husband, Adam, and I have a busy family of 5 children. Our daughter, Gabbi, is a junior at SIUe where she studies Marketing. We also have two sets of twins! Drew and Emily are juniors at Tremont High School and Lucas and Cooper are 8th graders at Tremont Middle School. They are all very active in sports and youth group and keep us hopping to all of their events!

I love to read, take our dog, Sadie, on walks, and cheer on the Chicago Cubs!
