My Class3rd Grade
Welcome to 3rd Grade!
Our goal for third grade is to work hard, yet still have fun learning. As a year spent preparing students for the upper grades, we strive to teach independence, organization, and critical thinking skills in order to achieve success. In reading, students will continue to develop fluency and build comprehension strategies. Math will cover several new topics such as multiplication and division, as well as build upon previously learned concepts in addition and subtraction. Geometry, measurement, and fractions will also be units of study in mathematics. In language arts, we will develop grammar and writing skills while practicing expository, persuasive, and narrative styles of writing. Communities, economics, holidays, U.S. symbols, and government will comprise the social studies curriculum. In science we will study weather, forces and motion, and magnetism. In the spring, we will study the life cycles of both plants and animals.
We look forward to an exciting year of teaching and learning!
Welcome to third grade!

Third Grade Teacher
Welcome to an exciting year of 3rd grade! This is my 9th year teaching third grade at Grundy. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bradley University, a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Illinois State University, and a second Master’s in Elementary Education.
I love teaching and feel blessed to be working in a district with great students, supportive parents, and an amazing staff! My husband Nick and I live in the Morton/Groveland area. We have 3 dogs, chickens, ducks, and 2 miniature horses. We also just had a baby in February who is our world! I am very passionate about teaching and learning. I feel honored to have the opportunity to prepare students for not only the next grade level, but for life as well. My goal is to help each student reach their highest potential in a safe, structured environment. I want my students to have fun learning and love coming to school each day.

Third Grade Teacher
I am excited to be at Grundy School teaching Third Grade! This is my 30th year of teaching. I previously taught third grade and kindergarten in another district for 20 years. This is my tenth year working for Morton 709. I was the Challenge Coordinator and Teacher for two years. Then, I taught first grade at Lettie Brown for a year, and now am happy to be home as a Grundy Gator.
I attended Illinois State University where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Go Redbirds! I also earned a Dual Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction and Elementary Education from the American College of Education. I will also finish another Master’s Program in Early Childhood Education from the American College of Education.
I am married to Kent, and have three children. When I am not at school I enjoy traveling, especially to Colorado to spend time with my daughters. We enjoy hiking, kayaking, and bicycling! We also enjoy spending time with our pets: three dogs, two horses, and a few barn cats.
I feel privileged to be part of the Grundy Family. I strive to ensure that all of my students will be successful and meet their academic goals in a classroom that supports a community of learners and develops a love for learning. Communicating with parents is a priority for me, so be sure to check out my class web page for the class newsletter, homework, and other important information. I am looking forward to another terrific third grade year!
Mission Statement: Every child can learn and achieve in an encouraging, structured environment.
