 Welcome to First Grade!

I feel extremely blessed to be beginning my teaching career as a 1st grade teacher at Grundy! I cannot wait for a great school year filled with learning and new adventures.

This past May, I graduated from Illinois State University with my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I completed my yearlong student teaching experience in both a 1st grade classroom and a Title I Reading classroom in the Unit 5 school district in Bloomington/Normal.

I was born and raised in Germantown Hills, and I have two loving parents, two older brothers who are both married, and a cat named Betty White. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling when I can, reading, and shopping.

I am extremely passionate about my career as a teacher, and I especially love 1st grade and all the growth that it brings for students. I hope to instill a lifelong love for learning and reading in my students, similar to what my own teachers did for me. Let’s have a great year!

I am so excited to be teaching at Grundy!  I can honestly say I have never felt more welcome from the Grundy staff, administration, district office, and the community!  What a great way to start the year!

I was born and raised in Bloomington/Normal.  I attended Illinois State University, and graduated with my Bachelors in Elementary Education in 2013. In May of 2017, I graduated with my Masters in Teaching and Learning from Illinois State University as well.

The past four years, I have been teaching in Bloomington/Normal in the Unit 5 school district.  I have spent the last two years teaching 4th grade, and the two years before that, teaching 2nd grade.  My heart is in the primary grades, so I am very excited to be teaching 1st grade at Grundy!

My fiance, Tyler, and I are getting married this September. We have a Golden Retriever named Bo.  In my free time, I like to play tennis, go hiking, and spend time with family.

Being an educator is truly a passion of mine, and I am so lucky to see students grow and learn throughout the year.  A goal for all of my students is to reach their fullest potential, all while enjoying themselves and loving school.
