SUPPORT SERVICES

Miss Dixon - Reading

Mrs. Everetts - Math

I have enjoyed teaching Title I Math for the past 24 years at Jefferson and Grundy.  Previously, I taught 1st, 3rd, 5th, and a combined position of music, reading, and P.E. in Morton.  Illinois State University is my alma mater.

I live in Washington with my husband Rick, who is retired from Morton High.  We have two married daughters that have provided us with the privilege of being grandparents.  Both families live close enough so that we can enjoy them.

Mrs. Bump - Speech

Grundy School opened in 1961 when the building had half the current number of classrooms.  I was doing speech therapy here that opening year and have continued to provide services at Grundy since then. In earlier years, I was assigned to Jefferson and Groveland Schools.  My work with children and their families here in Morton is very rewarding for me. My own two daughters attended Grundy School.  My daughter, Cindy, and her two teenage daughters, live in Colorado.  My daughter, Karin, and her young son, live in New York State.  It is FUN to visit them on my school vacations.  Also, I am an avid beachcomber and have an extensive shell collection from beaches all across the United States, Hawaii and Mexico.  I discovered my first hermit crab hiding in a small beautiful shell that I found while walking on a Florida beach and have had fun having small hermit crabs as speech room pets ever since!

Mrs. Toraason - Primary Resource (K-4)

Ms. Harvey - Intermediate Resource

One of my favorite educator quotes states, "If students do not learn the way we teach them, we must teach them the way that they will learn."  This quote is the backbone of my educational philosophy. I strive to teach students with this principle in mind everyday that I walk through the doors on Grundy Elementary School. This is my third year teaching at Grundy, and I love being a Gator.

I received my undergraduate degree in 2006 in the area of Special Education from Illinois State University. Currently, I am continuing my education at Illinois State University in their Special Education Graduate Program.  I love going to grad school and collaborating with educators from throughout the state.

Mrs. Waterfield - Social Worker

After teaching social sciences at Prairie Central High School for three years, I returned to school and received my master's degree in social work in 1997.  I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve as a School Social Worker for Morton CUSD 709 for the past seven years.

Mrs. Jennings - Psychologist

Mrs. Jennings received a master's degree from Bradley University in 1971. After completing an internship, she served as psychologist for Tazewell-Mason County Special Education. Since 1980, she has been the school psychologist for the Morton School District.
