Mrs. JonesHi, I am Chris Jones the librarian here at Grundy and at Jefferson. This is my eighteenth year as librarian for district 709. Right out of college, I taught Second Grade for six years and First Grade for one year. I had two daughters after I stopped teaching and I did some substituting in Peoria, East Peoria, Sunnyland, Beverly Manor, Robein, and Morton. I was Children's Librarian for the Morton Public Library for seven years. As fortune would have, as I was presenting the library summer reading program at Jefferson some eighteen years ago, Mr. Seidel, the principal at that time alerted me to the possibility of this district hiring librarians in the grade schools. I went right to the district office and was subsequently hired as the librarian responsible for two grade schools. I love working with the kids. That was always my goal from childhood on, to be a teacher. My degree from Illinois State University is a major in Elementary Education with a minor in Library Science. The two of my greatest loves kids and reading is what I have been fortunate enough to be working with all these years. |
Mr. Shane RockeMr. Rocke earned his Bachelor's in Music education with an emphasis in Vocal music from Greenville College. He is currently taking classes toward a masters of music education at Illinois State University. Along with teaching the elementary music students (1st - 6th) at Grundy Elementary, he also directs the Morton Elementary Chorus, the 7th and 8th grade choir, Limited Edition, and the high school Chorale. The 09-10 school year is Mr. Rocke's sixth year teaching in Morton, and seventh year in the music education field. When not at school Mr. Rocke resides in Eureka with his wife, Meg, and soon-to-be 6 year-old son Gabe. |
Mrs. Jodi WalterI came to Grundy in the Spring of the 2009 school year and really enjoyed it. The 2009 -2010 school year will be my first full year. I am really looking forward to it. I have learned so much already but I am sure there is still more for me to figure out. This is the second time I have lived in Morton. I moved here with my family from England. My husband Tim works at Caterpillar and we have 3 children. Tess is in the 6th grade at Grundy, Jack is in the eighth grade at the Junior High, and Timmy is a sophomore at the High School. |
