Kindergarten is a very busy place. We have many things to learn. Instruction is done in three different ways: large group, small groups, and individual work. Social skills are a very important aspect of our curriculum. Learning to be a good listener is the most important thing we will learn all year. My job is to give your child every skill they will need to order to become good students.
Letter recognition, letter/ sound recognition, and writing the letters are a large part of the day. Each child will have a Writing Binder which we will 'fill up" with all kinds of tools to help us learn to read and write. In Math, we will learn a great deal from the calendar each day. We will also learn patterns, shapes, counting, measurement, and beginning addition. Each week we have a different theme to correspond with our letter. This is the way we work science and social studies into the day.
