Our goal for third grade is to work hard, yet still have fun learning. As a year spent preparing students for the upper grades, we will strive to teach independence, organization, and other helpful study skills needed to achieve success.
In third grade many new skills will be taught: cursive writing, paragraph writing, multiplication, division, fluency in reading, and grammar skills to name a few. In science we will concentrate on nutrition, space science, energy, the water cycle, and life cycles. While focusing on different communities in the world around us, we will also study our own community of Morton. Flat Stanley will also be traveling around the world with us this year, to complete our social studies curriculum.
In preparation for ISAT testing we will do a great deal of work with reading and math comprehension. Students will have to learn to write responses to stories and math problems.
