Michael SaundersPrincipal's Personal Profile I was born and raised in Fort Madison, Iowa. I graduated from Aquinas High School in 1986 and attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. My junior year, I transferred to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls to major in education. I graduated in 1991 with Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. Trina and I were married that summer and we moved to the Quad-Cities. I taught 5th grade in Bettendorf, Iowa for one year and 4th grade in Clinton, Iowa for six years. I graduated from Western Illinois University in 1997 with a Master's degree in educational administration. I served as the principal of Jefferson Elementary School in Harvard, Illinois from 1998-2002. I have served as the principal of Ward Grundy Elementary School here in Morton since the fall of 2002. Beyond the world of education, we are active members of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Groveland. We enjoy being involved in several ministries within the church including Sunday School, AWANA, youth group, adult Bible study, and small group. We are active supporters of Peoria Rescue Ministries, Southside Mission, and local Christian radio (91.5FM, 88.5FM, and 1020AM). In our spare time we love getting together with family and friends, working in the yard, and going camping. Trina and I have been blessed with four beautiful children, Katie, Rachel, Caleb, and Joshua. We are very proud to call the Morton School District our home.
